Linoleum Print Tray, Tealight & Napkins

Linoleum printing is very versatile and the finished motif can be applied to a wide variety of materials. In our instructions, we give you a great motif template to create beautiful leaf tendrils. We have applied these to a tray, to tea light cubes and to cloth napkins - creating a wonderful interplay and great to decorate and use together on the table.

This is how you proceed:

Edit linoleum:

Print out the templates. Place the tracing paper on the template and trace with a pencil. Place the tracing paper with the drawn side on the linoleum and run your finger over it. The drawing is now visible on the linoleum.

Tip: Transfer the motif(s) to the board to save space. Use a pair of scissors to cut it apart.

Linoleum printing is a letterpress process. This means that only the raised parts of the printing plate are transferred to the substrate. The remaining part of the plate is cut away with the lino knife. The standing motif prints onto the background after being rolled in with ink. As the motif cannot be seen during printing, you can draw small marks on the linoleum to help you.

After working, the linoleum sheets can be cleaned with water. This way you can use your motif for later creative work.

Tray & tea light cubes:

Design the tray or the tea light cubes with the VBS craft colours. After drying, dab the linoleum carvings with some craft paint and print them onto the tray or tea light cubes. Use the Posca marker to draw lines, accents, etc.

When everything is dry, coat the tray with Tripple Gloss.

Napkins:

Cut the fabric to the desired size. We cut our fabric to the size 54 cm x 42 cm. Then fold in the edges twice and sew with any decorative stitch with the sewing machine or by hand.

Draw a circle of any size on the fabric with the Stroke Ex pen. Colour it with the VBS fabric paint "golden yellow".

After drying, dab the linoleum carvings with VBS fabric painting colour "Chalky" (Sea green) and print them onto the napkin. After drying, join the leaves with the Posca marker. Iron the napkins to fix them.
